I did the dishes [ao3]The filtered light from the window woke Cody in the morning, and he found himself alone in the bed. He could hear the shuffle of Rex and Obi-Wan trying to be quiet in the outer room, and the smells of caff and cooking. He smiled, touched that they’d let him sleep as long as he liked.
Rising, Cody went to wash up. He took a quick but thorough shower, then shaved and combed his hair, making a note that he was overdue for a trim. He paused at the thought, reaching up and poking a bit at where the hair at the front of his head was getting just long enough to start curling. Technically, he didn’t have to comply with GAR grooming standards any more, and even if he did, they’d never been that strict. He cocked his head. Maybe he’d let it grow a bit, see what that looked like.
Padding out of the ‘fresher, Cody pulled on barracks fatigues. While he had other clothes, the fatigues had become something of a comfort outfit over the years, the familiar material soft and faded with many washes. He walked out into the main room, and found that either he or his lovers had timed things perfectly. Rex was wiping down the counters, Obi-Wan was putting food and drinks on the table, and the dirty dishes from cooking had been washed and left to dry in the rack.
“Morning,” Cody greeted, and snagged Obi-Wan by the arm, pulling him in for a kiss. Obi-Wan hummed softly, blindly setting down the mug in his hand and reaching up to rub Cody’s shoulders instead.
“Mmm, morning,” Obi-Wan returned when they parted. “Welcome home.” Cody smiled, and leaned down for another kiss.
“That one’s from Satine,” Cody said when he pulled back, and Obi-Wan laughed softly.
“I don’t get a kiss from the Duchess?” Rex pouted.
“Oh, you do,” Cody said with a smile, and Rex crossed to them. Cody kissed him, and could have happily kissed him for some time, except his stomach decided to complain. Loudly. Rex pulled back with a laugh.
“Sit down, Obi-Wan’s made something tasty, and I did the dishes, so you just have to eat. Don’t get used to it,” Rex warned.
“Aww, and here I was hoping you’d move in just so I wouldn’t have to do dishes anymore,” Cody teased, sitting.
“Just for that I should make you wait,” Rex said with a smile, putting a muffin on Cody’s plate, then joining him at the table. Cody smiled broadly.
“You agreed then?”
Rex nodded. “Yeah, Ob’ika talked me into it.” He paused, and shrugged. “Well, he made the offer and then, well - made clear it would be very silly of me to refuse,” he said with a leer at Obi-Wan, who huffed in amusement. Rex pulled Obi-Wan down into his lap, and kissed him soundly, eliciting a delicious little mewl of pleasure from their Jedi.
“Well, he’s not wrong,” Cody said, this time being implied.
Obi-Wan laughed softly, then moaned as Rex kissed him again. Cody’s expression turned a bit avaricious at that. He’d been exhausted when he got in the night before, only wanting to curl up with his lovers and sleep. Now - a more thorough welcome home sounded like a very enjoyable endeavour.
“Eat your meal Obi-Wan, you’re going to need your energy,” Cody ordered when Rex and Obi-Wan parted to breathe. Obi-Wan shot him an eager look, and Rex grinned.
“Miss us?” Rex asked, and Cody let out a low chuckle.
“You know I did,” Cody said, and downed his caff, then reached across the table to grab part of a muffin off Rex’ plate. Rex slapped at Cody’s hand as he drew it back, and Cody grinned when he evaded the half-hearted swat. “It a worthwhile mission, and it was nice to see Satine, but I’m glad to be home.”
