Kelleran has spent the hours since leaving the Chamber of Trial in fasting and meditation, surrendered to the flow of the Force. The hour now has come for ceremony, the severing of his Padawan braid and the swearing of his Knightly oaths.

Fear trembles in his throat, thin and weak. But he has faced fear before and conquered it. And he accepts that he will face it again, and will overcome it. The Force is with him, as is the wisdom of his elders. Kelleran will rise a Knight, bringing light into the Dark places. That is the Jedi way.

The Temple is her home, the place she feels safest, and after a few far flung missions as a young Knight, she decides her calling is to protect her community there. She seeks out the Battlemaster and is accepted on probation. Quilted white tunics disguise her form and a white mask covers her face. There is a routine to the patrols, and a sense of pride in learning all the secret ways in, out, and around the Temple so she can act in its defense. The satisfaction of becoming a full Temple Guard is second only to earning her Knighthood.

Depa resettles Caleb against her side, smoothing his wild, dark hair. He's performed admirably since becoming her Padawan. His training in the Temple has prepared him well, but facing this war is still a trial. It is a test even for Depa, despite being an experienced Jedi. But no mission could have prepared her for the Separatists' atrocities. She will shield Caleb the best she can, so he is not tested beyond his endurance. She will train him to withstand the horrors the Sith have unleashed in the galaxy. This will be her triumph as a Jedi, training her Padawan.

Yaddle flicks her ear, hearing a stifled giggle. She slit her eyes open just a crack. While she'd come into the gardens to enjoy some meditation with green and growing things, spending some time with the not-so-green growing things would be just as enjoyable. She reaches into the Force, feeling the burbling mischievousness of the youngling trying to sneak up on her. Hide and find is always a good learning experience. A way to teach the younglings important skills through fun rather than fear. Shifting her weight and tucking her legs beneath her, Yaddle prepares to spring herself into action.

Barriss swallowed thickly and steadfastly kept her hands from trembling. Carefully she pipetted reagents into tubes, then settled them in the centrifuge. If this worked - if her theory was correct-

She brushed the thought aside.

The process required her full concentration. The steps of producing the serum were practiced and procedural, but it wouldn't do to let overconfidence mar the results through imprecision. She would complete each specified step with care and compassion, not holding onto the desired outcome. She would let the process lead and if the theory was sound, the double-aging the clones suffered from would be cured.

Aayla could barely keep herself still in her excitement, despite understanding the gravity of the situation. She'd learned much, since she first came to the Temple, and she knew that making this commitment was a serious decision. Once she was officially a Padawan, she would be set on a path toward serving the Republic as a Jedi Knight. It would be hard. Even the Initiate training she already did was difficult, mentally, physically, psychically, and emotionally. But she could think of no more fulfilling life than using the gifts the Force had granted her to serve and better the galaxy.

Die a hero, Methos had recommended with a wry smile and a tilt of his glass what seems a lifetime ago. Die a hero, he thinks again, and separates MacLeod's head from his neck. The corollary holds true. Duncan will never live long enough to become a villain. Methos has taken on that role more times than he can count, although sometimes he pretends to be a hero - or a legend - in between his heel turns. He doesn't mind. Villain is the more enjoyable role; there are fewer constraints on one acting outside the bounds of law, or common decency.

Boba sleeps better once he's done with his healing sessions. He blamed the bacta despite that he'd paid more than enough to ensure the purity and quality, not wanting to examine his subconscious mind too deeply. His sleep is more restful when he's splayed on a bed. He sleeps even better the nights Fennec slips in with him. It's not every night. She has her own restlessness to battle. But when she climbs in and nestles against his side, and he wakes in the morning with his nose in her braided back hair, it's the best sleep he can remember.

Coruscant is a mass grave when they arrive; the dead rot in their billions, providing ample fertilizer. The Temple's seed vaults have burst and vines thick as a human's thigh crawl from the wreckage, feasting on the biomass rotting below. Echoes of what once was whisper through the halls. Shadows seep up from the depths, persistent scavengers of the lower levels venturing up to sunlight for the first time. The carrion-feeders and cannibals are the only ones left. They eye the newcomer warily. Eventually, they learn the newcomer is like them, a scavenger feasting at the end of the world.

Kit swims up toward the light, and surfaces to the muffled sensation that means he's been given the good drugs. His limbs are heavy, as if cast from duracrete, and there's a deep ache in his abdomen that hints at a long recovery. Still, despite that he can barely feel the Force through the chems in his blood, there's a warm familiar hand clasping his. For Kit, that's reassurance enough that all is well. Mace would be off doing his Master Windu act if there was trouble. That he's here, instead, at Kit's bedside tells Kit their people are safe.
