hello! i am wrennette, and this will mostly be a fandom space. i am currently most active in star wars (prequels / tcw era) but also occasionally writing and creating art for magnificent seven (tv), harry potter, highlander, marvel cinematic universe, and whatever else attracts my fancy for more than a few moments at a time. i took a long hiatus between lj and tumblr, so i'm a little out of practice at this type of interacting, so please be patient with me.

given deviantart's announcement [here] that to protect your artwork there from being used in ai datasets, you need to individually edit each piece to check an opt-out ticky-box, and evidently that doesn't prevent your artwork from being used in the new art ai da is rolling out themselves, i'm deleting my account there. i don't care enough about da, and have never cultivated my presence there enough that i think it's worthwhile to individually edit all 172 pieces i have uploaded there.

granted, i haven't uploaded anything there in over a year, and mostly depend on tumblr to host my artwork these days, but it's the end of an era. i've had my wrennette handle there for 14 years according to my account info, and that replaced an older account i'd forgotten my sign-in for (which i obviously can't delete, since i doubt i still have the credentials for whatever email address high-school me used to sign up for that first account).

i'm working on converting all the 'author' and 'artist' tags on my pinboard to 'creator' tags, since i bookmarked a vid recently and neither of those felt appropriate, plus it will link creators who produce work in more than one medium, and it's a bit tedious, but it's also sort of interesting to go through my bookmarks this way. the earliest ones are from the early 2010s, and fandoms i barely participate in these days. a lot of dead links that i don't have the heart to clear right now, although i should either find alternate links or run them through the wayback machine to see if that works. a lot of fic that i'm not sure i'll ever actually read again, because i read the description and tags and sort of wonder what i was thinking, although i'm certain i bookmarked for what i thought were very good reasons at the time, lol. but when i first started this project a while ago, i also found some fic that i had to pause and re-read, because i remembered that fondly, and some have really held up through the years.

i'm not so vain as to think anyone would want to link anything here to facebook or twitter, but just in case, don't crosspost or link to this journal. please. i really don't want that attention or need those lawsuits.

in other news, i haven't had internet since 01 july 2010, and it doesn't look to be changing any time soon, so this journal is on indefinite hiatus. i had hoped the situation would be resolved much more rapidly, but it looks pretty bleak at the moment.

i know this is a fic-only journal, but i think this is related enough to go here. sailorscully posteded this in hers, and i thought, huh, there's a good idea. so. be as nice or mean as you please - and i'll love you forever and ever amen if you're constructive.
