almost 5k into sw rare pairs fic, mostly written in the last week. i was stuck for a long time, and also concentrating on my cwbb fic until i realized how close the deadline for sw rare pairs is. due december 05.

22k of promised 25k into cwbb after rotating between the fic i decided to use and a few other possibilities for a while before i made up my mind which one to concentrate on. the one i decided to go with is one i’ve been wanting to write for a while, but couldn’t quite figure out how, and it’s very different in execution than it was when i first daydreamed it up, but that’s about par for the course. part of what had me stuck so long was wanting to / trying to write a story structure that i'm not familiar / comfortable with. once i allowed myself the freedom to toss that structure out, things have been moving a lot better. i've loosely outlined where it's headed, which sometimes causes problems because once i have an outline my brain often thinks i have a finished fic, which just isn't the case. it seems to be working out alright and keeping me on track, and i think i'm getting close to the end, but not so close i'm worried about not making word count. i need to check on due dates - first check in is passed, but we haven't had second check in yet, and artists haven't had the chance to select fics yet, so i think i'm fine on time.

34k into what i think i’m going to use as my swbb fic, which started off as spank bank material I never planned to share, but then it grew a whole lot of plot. signups close in january for authors. as seems to be usual for me for swbb, it's an extremely niche fic and pairing.

• my friend turned me on to news aggregator whatthefuckjusthappenedtoday.com, which is a bit of a sanity saver since it gives a concise update and links the full stories for those who want more


• clone wars saved exchange 2020 went live, and there's lots of good fic, including this lovely mace/ponds & codywan fic i was gifted!


• teen vogue put out an article on the valourisation of reagan, and how we need to not do that


• read a great review of an exhibition of work by toyin ojih odutola, written by zadie smith for the new yorker
