this week you’re getting six sentences from one of my in progress crafting circle fics!
"If you reach the end of your scarf, raise your hand so I can show you how to finish it, we still have plenty of time," Shaak said soothingly. She walked among them, smiling at their bent heads and studious expressions. "You're all doing very well," she encouraged. They stole peeks up at her as she passed their desks, some shy, others wary. Most emanated a fierce determination, but there was a thin thread of hope too, and a distinct desire to please. Soon, Shaak hoped, they would learn that she would be pleased no matter how much or little they accomplished.
here’s six sentences from my obi-wan/fenn rau/bo-katan wip, in which i insist on spelling fenn rau’s name as vhenn rau because there is no ‘f’ in mando’a, and steal ‘haat’ade’ from fanon because i like that abbreviation a lot:
Their days fell back into the routine they'd established, Bo-Katan joining Vhenn and Obi-Wan for after duty drinks if their shifts lined up. The Haat'ade generously put Obi-Wan and Vhenn on the same shift the vast majority of the time. As Bo-Katan wasn't one of the Haat'ade, her schedule didn't always line up as well. Even if it didn't, they made sure she knew she had an open invitation to come by their flat, or comm them any time. If they were busy, it would just go to the messaging service.
Once a month or so, the three of them would manage to find an off duty day to spend together.
six sentences from an idea i had in the shower this morning, and have been poking at ever since.
Obi-Wan's soul starts itching along his bones the moment they sneak into the Mandalorian sector with their charge. It isn't the familiar pull of the Force, and so he notes the sensation, then sets it aside for later contemplation. As Death Watch harries them from safehouse to bolthole, Obi-Wan begins to wonder perhaps Satine is a latent Sentinel, and he simply couldn't sense it until they were in her territory.
Satine speaks, sometimes, like a Sentinel should, about the future she wants for her people. But it doesn't quite mesh, and the longer Obi-Wan spends protecting her, the greater the disconnect grows. Eventually, he understands that if the storied Mando Sentinel genes are present in the Kryze bloodline, they're not present enough in Satine for her to see all Mando'ade as her people, only those who are willing to give up their ancient practices.
from the obimaul force dyad fic i’ve been poking at today (because if they’re going to give us weird force shit, i will use it), although they’re very much in the ‘i have a cool imaginary friend’ stage of the relationship still.
By the time Obi-Wan was old enough to be chosen as a Padawan, their dreamscape was something both like and unlike the Coruscant Temple. Maul had been sent on a few missions by his Master already, and eagerly told Obi-Wan about the places he had been, the things he had seen. Some of those things made their way into their shared mental space. By then, they were also able to reach each other when they were awake. Most of the time they tried not to. They didn't want to alert Maul's Master of this strange ability they had, and Maul didn't want to distract Obi-Wan during lessons either, not when, once they slept, Obi-Wan would convey those lessons to Maul the best he could.
The dragon was magnificent in every sense of the word. It was also far smaller than Qui-Gon might have imagined a dragon to be, no larger than a draught horse, although its massive wings took up quite a bit of space. It shifted, drawing back toward the dappled shadows under the thick canopy of trees.
"I mean you no harm," Qui-Gon called, and the dragon paused, head slightly cocked as if it understood him. "Do you understand me?" Qui-Gon asked curiously, rubbing his hand along his mount's neck to keep it calm in the face of such a large predator.
The dragon held very still for a long moment, then dipped its head slightly.
