His hand was still on her back, his arm curled around her. She wondered if he could sense how quickly her heart was beating. He asked, near a whisper, “Is there something else you’d prefer I do, instead?”

She breathed in and out, a tingle running up her spine from his hand. She said, “Can you not tell, Obi-Wan?”

He turned his head, just a little, enough that she felt his breath on her mouth when he said, “I prefer not to assume, Padmé.”
