finn was so underutilized in the sequel trilogy, so now that we know starkiller base used to be the planet ilum where jedi had for thousands of years sought their lightsaber crystals, i'm thinking that at some point when he was newly assigned to the base he got turned around somewhere he probably wasn't supposed to be, stepped through time, and got adopted as a padawan. maybe when finn is ~14-15ish, he meets ahsoka on ilum when she is supervising the gathering during the clone wars? he'd be a great padawan for obi-wan. will have to let this percolate a bit. i just need more jedi finn content.

Date: 10 June 2020 02:02 am (UTC)Finn would be and excellent jedi, and if the sequel writers hadn't been cowards he would've been a jedi, and i'm going to be mad about that forever, probably. from a narrative standpoint he's also the best possible candidate, because as you said he knows some of what happens, but not everything, which means there's a lot of built-in drama potential of fixing everything vs the characters don't know, exactly, what they need to fix. plus all the fun character drama of finn unlearning stuff about the jedi and the republic and how to be a person!
